73 ISWAP Terrorists, Families Surrender to Operation Hadin Kai Troops in Borno

No less than 73 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and their families surrendered to troops of Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Borno.

The surrender of terrorists, followed renewed military onslaughts of troops of 202 Armoured Brigade, Bama on May 31, 2023.

A counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, over the weekend (Saturday), in Maiduguri that the terrorists’ families comprise four males, 10 females and 28 children.

According to him, the repentant ISWAP terrorists were living in Bula Bello, Zaramari and Garno village hideouts of Sambisa Forest.

“There were also two males, seven females and nine children from Ngauri, Siraja and Nbellana village hideouts,” he added, stating that a female and 13 children, are from Bula Ashe, Guraba and Nemaila villages.

He further disclosed that nine ISWAP terrorists, two adult females and six children from Ukuba, also surrender to the troops of 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison, Gwoza, a border community with Cameroon.

Authorities of the Force say profiling of the surrendered terrorists is ongoing, after which they will be handed over to the appropriate agencies for proper handling.

Meanwhile, the troops of 222 Battalion neutralized a Boko Haram terrorist during a night patrol at Waroba general area.

The Operations were designed to deny the insurgents of any freedom of action in the region.
