‘I’ll not repeat it again’, Bobrisky pleads as Court convicts him for Naira abuse

Nigerian transvestite Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been convicted by the Federal High Court in Ikeja after pleading guilty to abuse of the Naira charge.

Recall that Tribune Online reports on Thursday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed a six-count charge against Bobrisky for abuse of the Naira, spraying of notes, and currency mutilation.

According to Channels, Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Ikeja, while delivering the judgment on Friday, struck out counts five and six before eventually convicting Bobrisky for Naira abuse after he pleaded guilty to the offense.

Upon hearing the counts, Bobrisky was asked about his comprehension of the charges presented, to which he affirmed, “Yes, I admit guilt.”

However, before his conviction, the socialite pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy, stating that he was unaware of the law regarding the abuse of Naira notes. Responding to his claim, the judge stated that ignorance is not an excuse.

Bobrisky said, “My lord, I wish that you can give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money. I’m a social media influencer with over five million followers. I would do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat it again my lord, I regret my actions my lord.”
