…charges members to stay focused on the core mandate of the assembly
The speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun has reiterated the commitment of the 8th Assembly to make laws in line with the yearnings and aspirations of the good people of Osun State .
The Speaker declared this in his opening remarks at the plenary which coincides with the Assembly’s 90 day in office.
“…I can say that in the last 90 days, we have proven our mettle and shown that this 8th Assembly will be a positive reference point in Osun state history by the special grace of God.”
Hon. Egbedun while expressing happiness in this regard , however, charged his fellow honorable members to do more .
He said, ” I am proud to be the speaker of this 8th Assembly and excited at the possibilities that lie ahead and I know that we will not disappoint the good people of Osun please,my dear Honorable colleagues,let’s do more by being alive to our responsibilities as law makers ” Ended the visibly elated Egbedun.
At the sitting of the house and in line with a matter of Urgent Public Importance, Hon. Tajudeen Adeyemi,the law maker representing Ifelodun state constituency called the attention of the Speaker and the House of Assembly as a whole to the incomplete section of the Osogbo/Ikirun/Ila-odo road ,which according to Hon.Adeyemi has led to series of fatal accidents in recent times.
Hon. Egbedun accordingly directed the House Committee on works and Transport to liaise with the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works to look into the matter.
In the meantime, Osun state Erosion Control and Public Safety Bill, 2023, Osun State Estate Agency Regulatory Authority Bill, 2023 and Osun Road Maintenance Agency Establishment Bill, 2023 have all scaled through the first reading.
