The over N34 billion worth of Teaching Hospital donated to Osun State University, Osogbo by the Chancellor, Dr Folorunso Alakija is said to be 85 per cent completed and due for commissioning soon.
This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Clement Adebooye, at the 3rd distinguished personality lecture of the College of Law, held at the Ifetedo campus of the university.
While commenting on the recent achievements of the university, Adebooye noted that an America-based Nigerian, Mr Peter Ishola, also donated a multi-million naira Professorial Suite to accommodate 10 Professors in the Ikire Campus of the institution.
According to him, the university has also received commendable infrastructural support from the Federal Government of Nigeria and TETFund.
He commended the governor, Ademola Adeleke, for approving the completion of a two storey 57 office complex for the university’s College of Health Sciences.
The VC said, “In the next couple of months, UNIOSUN will have the best Teaching Hospital in Nigeria, courtesy of our Chancellor, Apostle (Dr) Folorunso Alakija, who has graciously donated over N34b complex for that purpose in Osogbo.
“The construction is already about 85% completed, and it is hoped to be commissioned by the third quarter of the year.”
Commenting on the topic of the lecture, ‘The Supreme Court of Nigeria and Recent Developments in Public Law,’ Adebooye acknowledged its relevance to national and global interest, given the myriads of activities in the socio-political landscape.
