The People Democratic Party ( PDP) Osun State chapter has affirmed that Akogun Lere Oyewumu knows nothing about the recent kidnappings and abduction of some All progressive Congress (APC) members in Osun State.
In a communique issued by PDP Caretaker Chairman,Dr Akindele Adekunle, at the state capital on Tuesday reads:
“The attention of Osun PDP has been drawn to a poorly written and badly scripted malicious statement from the den of criminals and thuggery in Osun calling themselves a political party (APC), especially as it concerns their interest in Osun West senatorial District “In the said report, a woman called Esther Oyegunju was said to have allegedly accused the involvement of our candidate Akogun Lere Oyewumi in the kidnap case of her husband, Saheed Oyegunju.
However, i will like to make it known that, Akogun Lere Oyewumi knows nothing about the alleged kidnapping scenario of her husband Akogun Lere Oyewumi is a man of peace and his track record in public service of over three decades, as a one time federal legislator, former local government chairman and member of key federal boards speaks staunchly for him as a man of peace and honour.
“In my personal findings, it is on record that the said victim of the kidnap case(Saheed Oyegunju) and husband of this woman is on the wanted list of the Nigeria Police and a principal suspect in the killings and maiming of four innocent boys in Ikire on the 26th of January, 2023.
“It is now ludicrous and laughable that, those who killed and injured four(4) innocent boys in their home at Ori Eru, in Ikire, will now make a quick turnaround of alleging our senatorial candidate for the kidnapping of their member who is a well known criminal within the shores of our state and beyond, that amounts to diversionary tactics and covering up of an already blown lid.”Unfortunately for them, some of the people they attacked survived, and had made substantial statements to the police on who attacked them in the midnight!
“The father of one of the deceased, Mr. Ojosu, was with his son at Oluyoro hospital before he died and he listened to the statement of his son while he watched him dying excruciatingly!
“It is only a party of thuggery, violence, den of criminals and those running away from their known devilish and evil shadow that will have the effrontery of accusing others of what they’re guilty of and always known for.
“It should be noted that, it was their senatorial candidate in Osun West senatorial district in cahoots with other criminal elements of their party in Ikire and Irewole local government that led daredevil armed men to terrorise the peace loving people of Ikire which resulted into the loss of lives of innocent citizens.
“It now amounts to character assassination, blackmailing and their usual propaganda antics, by accusing our candidate of knowing about the kidnapping of a criminal element that is on the watch list of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Recent report of the arrest of one of their senatorial candidate in the state by the men of the Nigeria Police Force has further confirmed Apc has been the mastermind of the skirmishes of coordinated kidnapping stories and other criminal offences we’ve had in the state so far.
“While we appreciate the Nigeria Police for exhibiting gallantry and professionalism so far, we urge them to beam their searchlight more within the ranks and files of Apc in Osun State and flush out every identified hoodlums and criminals within the party that are parading themselves as party chieftains.
“Notwithstanding all these, we wish to reassure the good people of Osun State that the new government in Osun will not rest on its oars in securing the lives of the people of the state, while at the same time, it won’t leave any stone unturned in dealing with the den of the criminals who are hellbent in destroying the atmosphere of peace and tranquility the state currently enjoys.
“And no matter the shenanigans, character assassination, blackmailing and scaremongering these criminal elements of a political party are employing ahead of the general election, our party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will remain victorious over them come the forthcoming general elections and every other electoral contest we have in the nearest possible future.
