Osun PDP Raises SOS Over Renewed Violence in Ikire

  • Demands Immediate Security Action as Young Resident Is Killed

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State is deeply troubled by the distressing wave of attacks that has engulfed Ikire in recent weeks, culminating in the heartbreaking killing of a young innocent boy, Adesile Seebu, earlier today. This is a painful moment for the community and for all well-meaning citizens who cherish peace.

In a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media, Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji (HOB), the PDP lamented the growing insecurity allegedly orchestrated by a supporter of AMBO campaign team, Akinkunmi Alabi, popularly known as Ojuyobo. The party described the situation as a “deliberate assault on the peace of Ikire and an attack on the fundamental right of its people to live without fear.”

According to the statement, Ojuyobo who was declared wanted during the 2023 general elections for violent activities, has re-emerged boldly and has been linked to repeated assaults on residents.

The PDP expressed shock that an individual of such questionable record was recently seen in the company of the Managing Director of NIWA during his visit to Irewole/Isokan Local Government, an event during which residents were also harassed, assaulted and injured.

The PDP emphasized that the people of Ikire have shown remarkable patience, but their safety continues to be threatened by the supporters of AMBO group that appears emboldened and unchecked.

“We are raising a heartfelt Save-Our-Soul call on behalf of the people of Ikire. This is not about politics; this is about human life, community peace, and the dignity of people who simply want to live in harmony. We urge the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, NSCDC, and all relevant security agencies to immediately move in, arrest the perpetrators, and restore calm before this degenerates into a full-blown communal crisis,” the party appealed.

The statement further urged security authorities to investigate the network supporting OJUYOBO’s activities and to ensure that no individual or group is shielded from accountability.

“At a time when Osun is enjoying renewed peace and purposeful governance, it is unacceptable for criminal elements to plunge communities into chaos. The people of Ikire deserve justice for Adesile and protection from further aggression. The time to act is now,” the statement concluded.
