Imole Grassroots Movement Calls on Osun APC to Account for 2018 Promises

The Imole Grassroots Movement has called on the All Progressives Congress in Osun State to account for its 2018 campaign promises before presenting new pledges ahead of the next election.

In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Damilola Okandeji, the group expressed concern over what it described as renewed political propaganda and promises from the APC as the election season approaches.

According to the statement, the APC failed to deliver on many of its promises made during its administration between 2018 and 2022 and should provide Osun residents with a transparent account of its stewardship.

The group stated that governance should be measured by “tangible results, responsible leadership, accountability, and meaningful improvements in the lives of the people,” rather than “loud slogans, media theatrics, or desperate political grandstanding.”

The statement reads further

It is both astonishing and deeply disappointing that a party which failed to deliver on the overwhelming majority of its 2018 campaign commitments now seeks to burden the people of Osun State with yet another round of hollow assurances and recycled rhetoric.

Before presenting fresh promises to the people, the APC owes Osun citizens a clear, honest, and transparent account of its stewardship between 2018 and 2022.

Governance is not measured by loud slogans, media theatrics, or desperate political grandstanding; it is measured by tangible results, responsible leadership, accountability, and meaningful improvements in the lives of the people.

The people of Osun State have not forgotten the harsh realities they endured under the APC administration, unpaid salaries and entitlements, worsening economic hardship, neglect of critical infrastructure across many communities, and policies that failed to improve the welfare and living conditions of ordinary citizens.

Rather than confronting these unresolved failures with sincerity and humility, the APC has once again resorted to the familiar strategy of repackaging old narratives in a bid to manipulate public sentiment.

The Imole Grassroots Movement firmly believes that leadership must be evaluated on the basis of performance, credibility, and service to the people, not propaganda.

In contrast, the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has continued to demonstrate a clear commitment to people-centred governance through infrastructural renewal, improved workers’ welfare, grassroots development, educational support initiatives, and a transparent approach to governance. These are visible and verifiable achievements that citizens across Osun State can attest to.

We therefore call on the Osun APC to first reconcile its past promises with its actual record in office before attempting to market another collection of unrealistic pledges to the electorate. The people of Osun are now more politically aware, more informed, and far less susceptible to recycled narratives and cosmetic political campaigns.

The era of empty promises and political deception is fast coming to an end. What the people demand today is sincerity, competence, accountability, and governance that delivers measurable results not promises without performance.
