Adeleke Mourns Kola Oyewo, Describes Death as Major Blow to Creative Industry

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has expressed sadness over the death of veteran Nollywood actor and academic, Dr. Kola Oyewo, describing the loss as a major blow to the creative industry and the academic community.

In a condolence message issued on Saturday through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the late actor was a cultural icon whose contributions to the arts and education left a lasting impact on society.

Adeleke noted that Oyewo’s unique acting style endeared him to audiences across Nigeria, while his performances helped spotlight important social issues.

He said the actor’s remarkable contributions to the movie industry earned him a place among the state’s most celebrated creative talents.

“Dr. Kola Oyewo was a delight to watch in movies, combining great acting and exceptional storytelling skills to entertain movie lovers,” the governor said.

“Beyond acting, Dr. Oyewo shaped futures from the classroom, guiding young people to excellence through exceptional tutorship.”

The governor said the late thespian’s legacy would continue to live on through his works and the many lives he influenced during his career.

“With him gone, the memory of the joy he brought into homes through the screen, and even more, the lives he helped shape for the better, remain worthy consolations. I mourn his passing knowing well that a great talent is gone,” Adeleke stated.

The governor extended his condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Nigerian movie industry, the academic community and all those affected by the loss.

“On that note, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the movie industry, the academia and everyone touched by this painful loss. It is my sincere prayer that they find the strength to bear this difficult moment. May God grant his soul eternal rest,” he added.

Dr. Oyewo, a native of Obaa-Ile in Osun State, was widely respected for his contributions to theatre, film and education, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations of actors, scholars and students.
