One electrocuted, two others arrested for cable theft in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the electrocution of a yet-to-be-identified person in the Day Waterman area along the Kobape area of the state.

The police said on Wednesday that the yet-to-be-identified man was cutting the cable that belongs to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company when the incident happened.

Our correspondent learnt that a staff member of the IBEDC at the Owode Egba branch reported the matter to the police.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the command, Omolola Odutola, told our correspondent that the “corpse has been taken to the Ogun State Teaching Hospital Sagamu for autopsy.”

Similarly, two casual staff members of the Quantum Packaging Company, Igbesa, were arrested for allegedly stealing a cable suspected to belong to the company.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspects were first apprehended by the Chief Security Officer of the company, Okoi Akilepo, who was on a foot patrol at the time, before they were handed over to the police.

Odutola told our correspondent on Wednesday that both suspects had confessed to the crime.
