Osun to create technical incubation centre for citizens’ economic prosperity

Osun State government has revealed its plans to establish Technical Incubation Centre within its Free Trade Zone to be revived by the current administration of Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

This was disclosed on Thursday by the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo at the NBTI South West Zone Techno Expo (1st edition), held at Adeyemi Bello Hall, Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa Ikeja, Lagos.

The 4-day programme from 6th to 9th November 2023, organized by National Board for Technology Incubation in conjunction with Ladimacalis Nigeria Limited is themed “Elevating Nigeria’s Research and Development (R & D) Output through Technology Incubation Programme.

Technology Incubation Centre is an initiative to provide a nurturing environment to Technology-basedbusiness ideas to prosper and become viable contributors to communities and the economy.

In his words, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry also stated that it also helps entrepreneurs identify their talent, strength and weakness, and to develop the ability to recognize when there is an opportunity and be able to use it to build the business.

“Osun State is currently working on the development of an Incubation Centre at the Living Spring Free Trade Zone. This is aptly captured in the Osun State Industrial Development Policy Document which was launched recently in the State. It is noteworthy that our administration’s Economic and Industrial drive facilitated by the development of the Industrial Policy Document”, Rev. Jenyo said.

According to the Commissioner, “this document is a roadmap to achieve high level of industrialization with the vision to provide several job opportunities for the people and turn the State to the most preferred destination for investment in Nigeria”.

“The government of Gov Ademola Adeleke is also working on several industrial initiatives which include Free Trade Zone planned to provide over 1,000,000 direct and indirect jobs for the people, establishment of farm produce aggregation centres with cold and dry storage facilities and processing units, encouragement of Youths to key into Skills Upgrade and Enterpreneurship Development Training of the State Government and Revival of Moribund Industries”.

The Commissioner maintained that the effectual results of the Centre is to enrich the majority of Osun people.

“With these initiatives, we believe Osun State is on the right track to economic and industrial development which will translate to economic prosperity for all”, he said.
