Osun Govt, World Bank supports Women Farmers with farm tools, livestocks

Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Tola Faseru, has urged women farmers in Osun, especially in Ifedayo Local Government Area, to ensure that they utiised the farming processing equipment, tools and livestock distributed to them solely for the purpose of growing their agricultural businesses.

The Commissioner, who spoke through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Honourable Olaniran Atidade gave the charge at the flag-off of the distribution of farm tools, goats and broilers along processing equipment worth millions of naira, to women farmers in Ifedayo Local Government area of the State.

The programme was supported by the World Bank in collaboration with Osun State Ministry of Agriculture and food Security.

Hon. Atidade appreciated the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke and the World Bank for the good gesture which would go a long way in boosting the beneficiaries agricultural endeavour.

Speaking at the occasion, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin appreciated the State Government and the partners, encouraged the people of Ifedayo Local Government to make profitable use of the equipment and livestock so that others can also be privileged to enjoy the same.

In their separate remarks, Mrs Adegbemisola Fayoyin, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security as well as the State Focal Officer for the Programme, Mr Folorunso Tomori charged the beneficiaries to exploit the opportunity, stressing that if the equipment are well utilized, it will encourage the State Government to do more.

In their words of appreciation, two of the beneficiaries, Mrs Morenikeji Omolayo and Bola Afuye, who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the State Government for the kind gesture, promising not to disappoint the State in it’s expectation.
