‘Did Ifa Travel?’ – Oluwo questions Oyo Govt on Selection of Alaafin, Soun

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, has tackled the Oyo State Government on the selection of the Alaafin of Oyo and Soun of Ogbomoso.

In a statement at the weekend, the Oluwo noted that only God could select successors to the vacant thrones and the government.

The monarch expressed worry that the days of traditional oracle picking who becomes king were long gone and questioned why the Ifa was yet to select successors to the vacant stools of Alaafin of Oyo and Soun of Ogbomoso.

The Oluwo maintained that only princes without genuine intentions patronise the state government and not Ifa.

“God installs monarchs. When a vacant stool is to be filled, contestants will patronise the government, not Ifa. Those who patronise Ifa will have to wait endlessly. Why has Ifa not picked the new Alaafin of Oyo and Soun of Ogbomoso? Or did Ifa travel so we can seek his return to give those towns new kings?,” he queried.
