Greater Appreciation Should Be Given to Tinubu, Buhari For my Political Success – Aregbesola

Former Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola has credited President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari for his political success.

Aregbesola stated this on Sunday at a reception held in his honour by some Muslim scholars and clerics in Oyo State.

He served as Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure under Tinubu’s administration as governor of Lagos State and — after his tenure as Osun State governor — as minister under Buhari.

“I am thankful to those who made the achievements that facilitated this grand reception possible,” he said.

“I stand with those who mentored me in Lagos, who facilitated my emergence in Osun, who made it possible for me to do the little things that the Oyo people are celebrating me for.

“I mention them by name, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari. If any appreciation and gratitude could be given to me, I want to believe greater gratitude and appreciation should be given to those two people I have mentioned.”

Aregbesola noted that their backing helped him advance in politics and his journey in politics would have been burdensome if he had tried to make it without the support of his political mentors.

“Without their support, it would be pretty difficult for me single-handedly to achieve the heights I am at now, and render the services for which the people are commending and appreciating me.

“I am grateful for this grand reception of the Oyo people, and Oyo is significant because the only empire the Yoruba have built over time is the Oyo empire,” Aregbesola said.
