INEC Begins PVC Distribution Ahead of Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible voters in Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
In a press release signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, and dated July 20, 2026, the commission said the exercise is for eligible voters who registered, applied for transfer of registration, replaced lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to the commission, the distribution will be carried out in two phases to make the process more accessible and convenient.
The first phase will take place at the state’s 332 Registration Areas from Wednesday, July 22, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, while the second phase will be conducted at all INEC Local Government Area offices across Osun State from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, August 7, 2026. Collection will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., including weekends.
INEC urged all eligible voters to collect their PVCs within the stipulated period, emphasizing that the voter card remains the only valid means of accreditation and voting on election day.
“The Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid document for accreditation and voting on election day,” the commission stated.
The electoral body also disclosed that uncollected PVCs from previous voter registration exercises would be available for collection throughout the distribution period.
INEC warned that PVC collection is strictly personal and that collection by proxy is prohibited.
“The Commission hereby reminds voters that PVC collection is strictly personal and it is an offence to do otherwise. Collection by proxy will not be allowed under any circumstance,” the statement read.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a credible electoral process in the state.
“INEC remains committed to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive, and transparent governorship election in Osun State,” the statement added.
