The Osun chapter of Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday issued certificates of return to Chairmen and councilors who emerged victoriously during the just concluded Local government and councillorship primary elections of the party.
Thirty elected Chairmen and 10 councilors across Local Government area of the state received the certificate, during the Presentation program at the PDP office in Osogbo.
In his address, PDP state chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi congratulated successful candidates in the just concluded primary LG elections, while urging them to return to their respective local governments and mend fences where necessary.
The chairman also advised them to embrace opponents, because they are not enemies, but fellow stakeholders.
He said, “To our winners, I offer my warmest congratulations! Your success is a pointer to your hard work, dedication, and the trust our party has in you. As you receive your certificates, remember that this is not the end, but the beginning of a greater challenge. You have won in the party, you must go out and win for the party!
“As you step out of here today, I urge you to return to your respective local governments immediately and mend fences where necessary. Embrace your opponents, for they are not enemies, but fellow stakeholders in our collective quest for a better Osun State.
“However, I must remind you that winning in the party is different from winning in the general elections. The grassroots election, in particular, is a unique challenge that requires more than just party support. It demands personal connections, trust, and relationships built over time with traditional voting blocs.
“As you move forward, I urge you to heal all wounds, and make amends with your fellow contestants. The general election is not just about party loyalty but also about family ties, political history, and personal relationships. Make it easy for us to campaign for you by building bridges, not walls”, he noted.
Hon. Bisi, stressed further by addressing opponent in PDP who might not be happy with the just concluded elections. He advised that everyone should sheath their swords and embrace peace because PDP is a big family.
“To those who may feel aggrieved or disappointed, I appeal to you to sheath your swords and embrace peace. The PDP is a big family, and we will endeavour to navigate other opportunities for you to serve the good people of Osun State. Our train will leave no one behind.
“Therefore, let us work together, united in our quest for victory and progress.
Let us put aside our differences and work towards a common goal: to support our performing leader, the Governor of Osun State, Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke in his patriotic efforts to deliver dividends of democracy to our people. Let us show them that we are a party of unity, of progress, and of purpose. There is no time to mess around!
“Remember, the true test of leadership lies not in victory, but in the ability to bring people together towards a shared vision. Let us rise to this challenge, and let us make Osun State proud.
“Once again, congratulations to our candidates. May your certificates be a symbol of our party’s trust in you, and may you justify that trust with your actions, now and when you all assume office in few months as chairmen and councilors”, he added.
