The Action Peoples Party (APP) in Osun State has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to safeguard the integrity of the August 15 governorship election, warning against any form of technical manipulation capable of undermining the electoral process.

In a statement signed by Odesola Oluseye Titus on behalf of the party, APP expressed concern over alleged technical irregularities reported during the recent governorship election in Ekiti State, saying the development had heightened fears among residents of Osun ahead of the forthcoming poll.

The party noted that reports from the Ekiti election had raised questions about the reliability and transparency of electoral technologies, particularly the use of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), card readers and the voter register.

“The people of Osun State will not tolerate any form of technical rigging or manipulation that compromises the democratic process,” the statement said.

It added, “The integrity of our elections is paramount, and any attempt to undermine this through the misuse of technology will not be accepted.”

APP urged INEC to take immediate steps to secure all technological systems associated with the electoral process, including the verification of the voter register, proper functioning of card readers and protection of electoral data from unauthorized access.

“We urge INEC to take immediate action to ensure that all technological systems related to the electoral process are secured against fraud and other forms of manipulation,” the party stated.

The statement further stressed the need for the electoral body to remain proactive in addressing potential challenges that could affect voter confidence and participation.

“We demand that INEC remains vigilant and proactive in addressing these issues, ensuring that every eligible voter can participate freely and fairly,” it added.

APP also warned against any attempt to disenfranchise voters or manipulate the outcome of the election, insisting that residents of the state were closely monitoring preparations for the poll.

“The people of Osun State are watching closely, and we will not hesitate to mobilise against any strategy aimed at disenfranchising voters or manipulating the outcome of the August 15 governorship election,” the statement said.

The party called on INEC to uphold its constitutional responsibility by ensuring that the election is transparent, credible and conducted in accordance with democratic principles.

“We call on INEC to ensure that the electoral process remains transparent, credible and free from any form of technical tampering,” the statement concluded.

APP expressed confidence that the commission would take the necessary measures to guarantee a free, fair and credible governorship election in Osun State.
