TICC Accuses APC of Sponsoring Motor Park Violence Ahead of Osun Governorship Election

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating violent attacks in parts of Osogbo, Osun State, alleging that the incidents were aimed at creating fear and manipulating the outcome of the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign council alleged that suspected APC loyalists stormed several motor parks in Osogbo in the early hours of the day in an attempt to forcefully take control of the facilities.
According to the statement, the group alleged that the operation was led by Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba.
“The violent and hostile move to hijack motor parks and disrupt public peace in several parts of Osogbo is part of a broader plan by the APC to steal the forthcoming governorship election. Osun people will not surrender to violence,” the statement read.
TICC claimed the incident resembled the forceful takeover of local government councils in February 2025, which it alleged resulted in the deaths of at least seven people.
“It is no longer in doubt that the Osun APC has lost the confidence of the people, and the only option it is exploring is violence,” Olajengbesi said.
The campaign council expressed concern over the timing of the alleged attacks, noting that they occurred less than three weeks before the governorship election.
It alleged that the violence was intended to intimidate voters and discourage participation in the electoral process.
The council also questioned the alleged presence of Special Protection Unit (SPU) personnel accompanying Oyewale during the incident.
“We wonder who authorised the attachment of SPUs to a notorious thug and who provided protection for him throughout the alleged violence, especially at a time when security resources are needed to safeguard the people,” the statement added.
TICC urged security agencies to investigate the allegations and ensure that public institutions remain impartial in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The council further called on residents not to be intimidated, insisting that every eligible voter should be allowed to exercise his or her constitutional right without fear.
“We remain committed to the peace and safety of Osun people before, during and after the August 15 governorship election. We urge eligible voters not to surrender to the ploy of undemocratic forces who are afraid of a peaceful, credible and fair poll,” the statement said.
The APC had not responded to the allegations at the time this report was filed.
