Welfare of our members is non-negotiable – Osun NLC

…Directs members to remain at home

The Leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress Osun State Council, has reiterated that it’s earlier position on the ongoing matter between the State and Local Government in Osun State which has been influenced by the interest of various Political Groups in the State.

In a statement signed by NLC chairman, Osun chapter Comrade (Dr) Christopher Abimbola Arapasopo directed all Local Government Workers in Osun State to stay at home until peace and serenity can be assured.

“We have been monitoring the situation with the interest of all our members working within the Local Government Areas as our primary concern, we hereby direct that all Local Government Workers in Osun State should continue to stay at home until peace and serenity can be assured.

“We are not happy with the ongoing development however, the NLC won’t risk the lives of our members to work under an atmosphere we consider to be summarily unpredictable.

“Once we are convinced that the situation has improved tremendously, we will direct our members to resume work.

“According to him, once the situation on ground has improved, then members can resume to work.

“Contrary to the false allegations against the leadership of NULGE Osun State Chapter led by Com. (Dr) Kehinde Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, we reaffirm that NULGE as an affiliate of the NLC is duly constituted and operated under the Trade Union Act guiding all the industrial unions in the country. It should be noted that the National President General of NULGE has in a statement recently supported the action by the Osun State Chapter of NULGE which was in the interest of the welfare of her members.

“We also wish to inform the general public that Osun health Centres are open and continues to serve the health needs of the public at the grassroot. Currently, the Osun State Government is implementing the rehabilitation of the remaining PHCs in the state. There is no truth whatsoever in the claim that health centres in Osun state are closed.

“Com. (Dr) Kehinde Nathaniel Ogungbangbe is the recognised NULGE President in Osun State and as such we urge Osun State Local Government Workers to disregard the release calling for resumption by an unauthorized group of people who are working for their paymasters to divide the movement.

“The Osun State Council of the NLC remains resolute in its commitment to defending the rights and interests of workers and the masses. We shall not be cowed or intimidated by these desperate attempts to silence us. We stand firm in our resolve to uphold justice, fairness, and the rule of law in our beloved state. He noted.
