Governor Adeleke Mourns The Passing Of Chief Abiola Morakinyo

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has described the passing of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Abiola Morakinyo, as painful and devastating, commiserating with family and associates on the loss of a distinguished politician.

Governor Adeleke who notes Chief Morakinyo’s exceptional life of service, notably in the Old Oyo, where as the Commissioner for Finance, he oversaw sound economic policies that transform lives, said his demise has denied not just Gbongan people but the whole of Osun state the benefits of his influence and commitment to growth.

While reflecting on the contributions of the deceased to nation building, Adeleke in a statement signed by his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, recalled how the time of Chief Morakinyo as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) recorded significant progress for the higher institution of learning in both academics and physical infrastructure.

“I am saddened to learn about the passage of Chief Abiola Morakinyo. Chief Morakinyo led a life of honour and service, providing a ground for many to pursue their goals in life,” the Governor was quoted to have said in a condolence message.

“With his death, the people of Gbongan, and indeed, the entire Osun state, has lost one of its finest and devoted citizen. His loss will leave a void in a town he has served diligently for years to come just as the values and his contributions to the political evolution of our state, especially in the PDP, where he is a chieftain until his death.

“It is on this note that I express my deepest condolences to his immediate family, the people of Gbongan, and everyone touched by the great loss that the demise of Chief Morakinyo reflects.”

Governor Adeleke prays for the repose of the soul of the deceased and hoped that those left behind, especially family members, can find solace and strength in the memories of his remarkable life of impacts and the knowledge that his legacy will endure generations.
