IOsun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke on Monday received a rousing welcome from thousands of supporters during a campaign visit to Ile-Ogbo, the headquarters of Ayedire Local Government Area, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Residents, party faithful, traditional rulers, youths, women, students, cooperative societies and civil society groups turned out in large numbers to receive the governor, with supporters filling Tabontabon Square and chanting solidarity songs in support of his re-election bid.

Governor Adeleke also paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Olu of Ile-Ogbo, where he met with traditional rulers from across Ayedire Local Government. The monarchs offered prayers for peace in the state and wished the governor success in the forthcoming election.

The campaign train was received by prominent political figures, including the Osun West Senatorial Leader, Hon. Adesoye Oyetunde, Ayedire TICC Coordinator, Hon. Solomon Ogunbiyi, Campaign Chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Akinwon, TESCOM Commissioner II, Prince Oyelakin Sikiru, the member representing Ayedire State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Oderinwale Elisha Alinyemi, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Hon. Eniola Odeniyi, as well as other party leaders.

Speaking at the rally, leaders of the Ayedire Imole Campaign Council said the turnout reflected the confidence of residents in the Adeleke administration.

According to the council, “The massive turnout is a clear indication that the people of Ayedire appreciate the developmental strides of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration and are ready to support the continuity of his programmes.”

The council attributed the support to what it described as the administration’s investments in road infrastructure, payment of workers’ salaries and pension arrears, improvements in healthcare and education, rural development and inclusive governance.

It added that the reception demonstrated the determination of residents to remain behind the governor ahead of the election.

“The reception in Ile-Ogbo is more than a campaign rally. It reflects the growing acceptance of Governor Adeleke’s leadership and the resolve of the people to sustain the progress recorded under his administration,” the council stated.
