Some concerned groups, Adeleke Solidarity Movement, Ikirun Elders & Youths, The Youths and Ikirun Council of Mothers, in Ikirun, Ifelodun local government area of Osun State, has written to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, urging him to pick the next Akirun without fear or favour.
The group describe the Executive order restraining those parading themselves as kings which was horridly done by the previous administration, as a best option to forestall peace and harmony in the affected towns.
The group commended the governor for the unprecedented giant strides his administration in the last four months of his government.
Part of the statement reads, “Your Excellency, first accept our sincere congratulations on the giant and unprecedented strides taken by your administration in bringing life and development back to Osun State.
“Kindly allow us sir to draw your attention to the present situation concerning the Akirun with the activities of certain individuals who have been busy trying to draw the hand of the clock backwards and have surrounded the seat of government with baseless and unfounded rumours the sorts that mislead the erstwhile Oyetola regime into taking certain precipitate and unfair actions.
“You will recall sir, that your action in declaring the Akirun stool vacant on the inception of your administration has brought some peace to the state. It was a decision which certain individuals are hell-bent on frustrating by peddling wild and dangerous claims. The task to crown the right person and family as Akirun is a task that must be done without fear or favour.
“It is our belief that there is no difficulty in picking the next Akirun from the right royal family, and it is a matter of great concern that dishonest people are hell bent on perverting the cause of justice.
“We are however not afraid to trust Governor Adeleke with such a sensitive assignment, being a God fearing leader who himself had been a victim of grossinjustice in the past and who has consistently ruled with the fear of God.
