Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has handed over a 10 hectares of the Chamber’s property to Cityspace Property Limited for construction of Ultra-modern market which is expected to transform the business space of Abuja and will be rated as one of the best Ultra-modern markets in Africa.
The President of ACCI, Dr Al-mujtaba Abubakar who received the team of Cityspace Property Limited led by the Managing Director, Alh. Mustapha Yahaya for the handing over of the site stated that, the project will accomplish the Chamber’s goal of enhancing the sustainable growth and development of businesses in the FCT and also lead the private sector in the delivery of sustainable growth and prosperity in commercial activities and businesses in Nigeria.
“The construction of the ultra-modern shopping Centre is one of our efforts to accomplish the above goals as well as revitalizing and diversifying the economy and to improve the economic fortune of the Federal Capital city and the country at large.”
The ultra-modern market would comprise Premium shops, General retail shops, Warehouses, Cold Rooms, Stalls, and Cafés and restaurants will be implemented as a private partnership development initiative between ACCI and Cityscape Properties Limited, will enhance the socio-economic activities of the city, provide a platform for year-round products for the implementation of AfCFTA (where other Africans can visit to transact and buy Nigerian products), and meet the demand challenges of decent shopping environment for the teaming cosmopolitan population of Abuja and its environs.
The 1st Deputy President ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN stated that the project has been a long walk to where we are today adding that the efforts we have been making in the last one year will be remarkable.
“I can only commend the commitment of the committee and the support of the development control on the project. I have seen the timeline and I assure you that we would give the needed support and cooperation to see that this timelines are met.”
He added that we look forward to commissioning this project in 2025 to the glory of God and the business Community in Nigeria.
The Chairman of the project committee, Mr Osi momoh lauded the patience and support of the President of the Chamber adding that the result of any good work is more work.
He also appreciated the project committee members, the Director General, Victoria for her steadfastness and promptness in attending to them and everyone that has been working tirelessly to see that this project is delivered.
The Managing Director, Cityspace, Alh. Yahaya while appreciating the relationship with ACCI revealed that the timeline for delivery of the project if from 6th March, 2023 to 5th March 2025.
The ground breaking ceremony is scheduled for 21st March, 2023.
