Hall Of Fame: Ondo Govt Honours Dr. Funmilola Williams-Daudu

Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilola Williams-Daudu was among 25 women honoured and enlisted in the Ondo State Female Hall of Fame by the state government on Thursday for their outstanding contributions to the development of the state in the various areas of endeavour.

Among the awardees were Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilola Williams-Daudu, a medical doctor, who carries out annual free medical services to the people of Akoko, the first female Head of Service (HoS) in the state, Mrs. Kosemani Kolawole and first female Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele.

According to the organisers, over 31,000 persons had benefited from the health programme organised by Funmilola Williams-Daudu since started.

Dr. Williams-Daudu was honoured and enlisted in the state Female Hall of Fame for training midwives free and providing scholarship awards to indigent students and hiring and paying teachers for public schools in Ikaram-Akoko.

She’s also into integrated farming where trains people in different areas of farming with aim of ensuring g food security in the state.

Commenting on the award, Dr. Williams-Daudu described the award as an encouragement to do more.

She said: “My husband, Barrister Olurotimi Williams-Daudu has been my encourager, teacher and gave me the leverage to go to greater heights when some men would not allow their wives.

“I appreciate the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for giving the first lady, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu the leverage to do what she’s doing today.

“This is a call for more service and breaking of more biases. And encouragement for inclusion for women to do more for humanity. I thank my team, my children who will always support me. I also thank NACCIMA, they are always around me in whenever I do.

“To young ladies, the sky is the limit. They need to be focused. When you have a goal, you will be focused and have passion that would move you on to do what you want to do.

“There maybe challenge, but make that a stepping stone to your greatness. No one can stop them. I always tell people is that the only person I am competing with is myself, to be a better version of myself.”

Among other recepients are Princess Oladunni Odu who is first female Secretary to the State Government (SSG); Mrs. Mobolaji Osomo and Justice Folasade Aguda.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr.(Mrs.) Adebunmi Osadahun in her address said: “To the award recipients, you’re listed in the Female Hall of Fame of Ondo State for your recognition as a price for exceptional hardwork and uncommonly impactful achievements. You’re the first of this series to receive this state outstanding decoration. Award per excellence means more hard work.”

Other personalities present at the event are wife of the state governor, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, wife of the state deputy governor, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa among others.
