(OPINION) God is not a man: Adeleke’s one hundred days in office is monumental

By Michael Abimbola

Although, I have been tarrying, waiting patiently and crossing my fingers long enough since the executive governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke took the mantle of leadership of our dear state.

Upon his swearing-in on 27th November, 2022, his inaugural speech was well crafted and explicit to a fault but inspite this, I was a proverbial “Thomas” until I witnessed his mind-blowing achievements. Even my thought was narrow then, imagining how this man would be piloting the affairs of the state within the one hundred days, judging on the basis of how they campaigned against him and considering the common saying that ‘Governance universally is a serious business’.

My humble self and a legal practitioner who happens to be my friend had launched our curiosity webcam to track and capture the direction at which this government is moving and our empirical evidences confirmed clearly that Governor Ademola Adeleke had so far been moving Osun State towards the right track between fifty (50) and seventy (70) days of his administration- a feat which shocked me, many dwellers and citizens of the state.

Then, I personally thought and thought loudly that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s One Hundred (100) days in office would no doubt, be heralded with an abysmal performance but surprisingly, this humility personified Osun State Governor did wonders and proved me wrong. This was so when I saw his evidently proven landmark successes within the space of One Hundred (100) days.

I do not mean to sound rhetoric but I think there is need for one to highlight his historic and archival based remarkable impacts in areas such as Human and Infrastructural developments which have indeed attended his one hundred (100) days old state led administration.

Governor Ademola Adeleke till this moment, had proven and still proving his main political rival and many political watchers wrong and I hope the tempo would be maintained because the people of Osun are yearning and expectant of a government that would understand their wants.

Recall that prior to the Governorship election held in July 16, 2022, the All Progressives Congress (APC) being the major political challenger has floated a lot of narratives and campaigns aimed at decimating and assassinating Senator Ademola Adeleke’s character but, God is not a man.

For a strategic thinker, one of the leading phases often employed by the former ruling party (APC) in the state is what I called “CANCEL ❌ THEORY”. This theory has been consistently and efficiently working for them and good students of history would understand that APC as a party uses this deadly theory to kill visions and political aspirations of their opponents.

This party had utilized this sinister method to bury many politically. For instance, one of the political gladiators in Osun State whom I loved so much -Senator Christopher Iyiola Omisore- would never forget how the All Progressives Party (APC) deployed “CANCEL ❌ THEORY” to barter his very revered profile in the nation’s political space.

However, the same party similarly adopted same nefarious, toxic and poisonous method to destroy Senator Ademola Adeleke when they discovered and came to a realization that his inborn clout and acceptance is quite magnetic and extraordinary. This therefore, explained the reason why they first tagged him ‘The Dancing Senator’ with the anticipation that they can take Osun indigenes for granted.

I vividly remembered when the former Governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was seeking his second term bid in office in 2014, the present Governor of the state; Senator Ademola Adeleke, his late elder brother, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke as well as Governor Rauf Aregbesola danced to Skelewu almost at every rally ground but Senator Adeleke was not a dancing Senator until he left the party and later won senatorial bye-election then.

Nonetheless, after the failed APC led administration by Oyetola which greeted with a lot of irregularities and lopsidedness of appointments in civil service as well as monumental flaws, the party (APC) then resolved into cheap blackmails by using cooked and unsubstantiated litigations against the man of the moment -a development which further enhanced and propelled Senator Ademola Adeleke in the minds of Osun State indigenes- and the more they played him down, the more the fame and acceptability grew and increased.

For the sake of emphasis, under this present administration, sanity is gradually returning into the civil service unlike before. Payment of Salaries and backlog arrears has been given priority and I challenge any civil servant in Osun that would come and say former Governor Rauf Aregbesola owed him or her 30 months salary.

Senator Ademola Adeleke has been consistently upholding the doctrine of efficient governance continuously as he has embarked on the completion of Dagbolu-Ikirun and Ila-odo-Kwara boundaries.

Indeed, God is not a man.
