Kano Police Raid Hideouts, Apprehend 193 Suspects

The Kano State Police Command has raided criminal hideouts and black spots, leading to the arrest of no fewer than 1Kano Police Raid Hideouts, Apprehend 193 Suspects93 suspects and the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, confirmed the arrests and recoveries in a statement by spokesman Haruna Abdullahi on Monday.

“In furtherance of the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on initiating strategic surveillance and visibility patrols, raiding criminals’ hideouts and black spots, and expanding community-based engagements to ensure safety and security, the Kano State Police Command has sustained its proactive policing operations across the state.

“Under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and in line with the operational strategies rolled out by the Police Command in Kano, simultaneous raids were conducted across identified black spots and criminal hideouts in the command from April 10 to 12, 2026,” the statement read.

According to the statement, 193 suspects were arrested during the exercise.

The statement added that the operations were led by the 11 area commanders in the state, leading to the arrest of suspects and recovery of exhibits.

The items recovered included 51 cutlasses, 15 sharp knives, 41 clubs (Gora) and 72 rubber solutions.

Others are 69 sachets of Pregabalin, 259 Exol tablets and a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, among other exhibits.

The statement said investigation was ongoing, while efforts were being sustained to ensure peace and stability in the state, with patrols, surveillance and monitoring of identified hotspots continuing across the state.

Bakori commended the officers and men involved for their professionalism and resilience while appreciating members of the public for their continuous support and timely information, which he said remained vital to the success of the operations.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to dominating the public space against all criminal threats and ensuring that Kano State remained safe and secure for all law-abiding citizens.

The command further urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines for prompt action.
