The Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maj-Gen. Christopher Musa has said that troops operational engagements force terrorists to surrender in droves.
According to him, as at yesterday the number of surrendered terrorists stood at 61, 929.
Musa, disclosed this, yesterday (Saturday), at the Sallah luncheon for wounded troops at the Officers’ Mess, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno state,
He said that the surrendered terrorists comprise combatants and non-combatants along with their families.
He added that the wounded soldiers are currently receiving treatments at various hospitals.
“We want to assure you that we will not relent in our efforts, despite the successes, until the 13-year war is over,” he said.
The Commander, therefore, commended the wounded troops for gallantry and sacrifices of the ongoing counter-terrorism operations,
He assured that appropriate authorities have made adequate provisions for their treatments for speedy recovery to end the war.
While thanking the families of fallen heroes, for their support, he said: “The Nigerian Armed Forces will continue to provide all the necessary support to the fallen heroes’ family members.”
The Chief of Army Staff, represented by Air Vice Marshall, Charles Ohwo said that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will continue to provide air support for the ground troops, while fighting the insurgents in Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad region.
He also appreciated the sacrifices of the wounded troops, assuring that the military is committed to the welfare of troops.The Chief of Air Staff, represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Maj-Gen. Andrew Omozoje, urged the troops to sustain the tempo of professionalism to end the war that claimed many lives and property.
