Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has called on presidential aspirants to consider peace and unity of the country at all times.
Zulum made the declaration, yesterday (Tuesday), in Maiduguri; when he received Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant to commiserate Zulum over the death of his father in-law. Alhaji Kauna Kyari.
According to him, the presidential aspirants needed to work towards uniting the people to deepen democracy and good governance, despite different party affiliations.
“I commended you for your concerns about the people of Borno state during the trying moments of Boko Haram terrorism,” he said, lamenting that the 13-year insurgency has claimed many lives and property.
Besides, he added that Borno state is grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari for overcoming the challenges of insecurity to lives and property.
Responding, Wike said that he is in the state to address PDP delegates to seek votes during the forthcoming party convention on May 28-29 in Abuja.
He also lauded Zulum’s development projects in the state, despite the over a decade of insurgency.
“I’m impressed with the cleanliness of the Maiduguri metropolis,” he said, stating that the Governor should sustain the tempo in the state.
He noted that based on his consultation with the party delegates and the ones across the country, he is confident to the PDP flag at the presidential polls.
